Family Therapy related to high conflict divorce with resist/refuse dynamics

Family Therapy related to high conflict divorce with resist/refuse dynamics

This is by far the most challenging work that I do, but also can be the most rewarding. Family therapy in these complex cases is necessary due to physical and/or emotional estrangement between parent and child. This occurs for several reasons;

Substance Abuse

Mental Health

Child’s feelings regarding parent’s behavior

Incarceration

Domestic Violence – I do provide protocols specifically designed to address a history of domestic violence in cases and will be happy to share these in more detail if this is something that relates to your case in particular.

Extended absence due to Military duty or Travel

I have specific treatment protocols that I implement in cases to offer structure and clarity to our process. In general they are as follows:

   1. Initial screening forms that both parents fill out and return to me via email
   2. Potential meeting with parties and their attorneys
   3. Intake session for each parent and child separately
   4. Meeting with the parent that will be primarily in therapy working on the relationship with their child to provide feedback and plan for initial meeting
   5. Contact and collaborate with other providers; therapists, PRE, CFI evaluators
   6. Initial meeting with parent and child.
   7. Debrief sessions with each parent separately
   8. Fluid treatment plan that includes sessions with any combination of individuals necessary

This is a complicated process and involves commitment by all parties and their attorneys!
